The perfect foundation for all our mocktail: fresh fruit, surprising herbs and lots of passion.
MEET KAAT & MARIE
Sisters Marie and Kaat Claessens are the beating heart of The Mocktail Club. Our story started with Marie. When she discovered she had alcohol intolerance at age eighteen, Marie felt this was a minor tragedy at first. But soon she turned it into something positive. In 2015, she started a blog in which she shared recipes and inspiration for original mocktails. She created her first bottle in 2017. Barely one year later, Marie was voted the most promising entrepreneur of the Belgian province of East Flanders. Sister Kaat has been helping her to run the business since 2019. Together they mix and shake with great enthusiasm and passion from the first drop to the very last.
Marie Claessens: “The fact that I am not allowed to drink alcohol myself motivates me all the more to find original and above all delicious combinations. There are very few good alternatives to alcoholic beverages around actually. Those of us who don't drink alcohol quickly end up with soft drinks or a glass of fruit juice in their hands, and that is such a shame. At the same time, we have noticed that the demand for alcohol-free, low-sugar alternatives is rising rapidly. More than ever before, people are consciously trying to stay healthy. We like to respond to that by offering quality, non-alcoholic, healthy aperitifs both to private individuals and the hospitality industry."
ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH
When it comes to quality, Marie and Kaat make no concessions.
“We only want the very best for all our customers, whether they are enjoying their mocktails at home or in a Michelin star restaurant. That is why we only work with refined, natural ingredients of the highest quality."
The mocktails are all prepared with fresh fruits, herbs, spices and unrefined sugars. The Mocktail Club's own studio is where the magic happens. It is the place where the sisters experiment to their heart's content. The results are always new, unique and refreshing flavour combinations.
“We currently have eight different flavours. They are each a delicious, alcohol-free aperitif without any artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives. Our 100% natural mocktails are also low in calories. They are even completely vegan."
Helped by initiatives such as Sober October and Dry January or good old new year resolutions, more and more people are choosing not to have any alcohol (for a while). Marie has developed the recipe for the official mocktail for Tournée Minérale, a Belgian initiative that encourages people to go without alcohol for a whole month in February.
Kaat Claessens: “We are not on some moral mission to banish alcohol from people's lives completely, but we do want to make people realise that they can approach it in a more conscious way. Our premium alternatives allow you to have lots of variations, so you will never feel like you are missing out. Our mocktails are ready-to-serve, so you will be able to raise a delicious drink to your lips that isn’t sickly sweet in no time at all."
SUSTAINABLE DRINKS TASTE EVEN BETTER
Marie and Kaat strive for perfection and this definitely includes sustainability for them.
“We strive to make our manufacturing process as environmentally friendly as possible, and we work with local suppliers to support local communities where possible. We have our products pasteurised, bottled and packaged in a social enterprise."
All two sisters’ dedication, love and respect shines through in the mocktails’ great flavours.
The Mocktail Club's creations can now be found on the menus of several (Michelin star) restaurants, bars and concept stores. The 8 different ready-to-serve mocktails are also available on The Mocktail Club's webstore. They are available in 1 litre bottles (6 servings) with or without the botanicals.
